The A.L. Harper Foundation awards scholarships based on a comprehensive review process. Applicants must be enrolled in a Historically Black College or University in the USA. Students must meet the following application criteria:

2025 High School Graduate enrolled as an incoming Freshman at an Historically Black College & University (HBCU) for Fall 2025.
Resident in one of the following NC Counties: (Proof of residency is required and must match permanent address on file with college/university)
- Anson
- Cabarrus
- Gaston
- Mecklenburg
- Union
Essay 300-350 word count (please see application below for topic)
